48 SAFE TRANSPORTATION Developing vehicles to minimise traffic accidents and eliminate their impacts are among our main responsibilities. In order to produce future’s transportation solutions, we focus on design, quality, R&D and innovation; and we develop safe transportation applications that carry sector standards to a higher level. We design our vehicles in line with Ford Vehicle Safety Design Guide and general safety standards in such a way to perform beyond the legal requirements. The vehicles we produce successfully pass the audits performed at Ford Test Centres along with many independent reviews that are accepted as prestigious in the field of traffic safety and these vehicles are the safest vehicles in their classes. Some of our innovative active and passive driving safety technologies that we offer are as follows: • Adaptive Cruise Control system supports by maintaining safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. • We contribute to the safety of drivers with Emergency Braking System which has become a legal requirement gradually in heavy-duty commercial and light-duty commercial vehicles. At Ford Otosan, we develop the system in terms of both its software and hardware integration. • Lane Keeping System continuously observes the position of the vehicle within the lane and warns the driver in case of an involuntary lane change by a visual indicator appearing on the dashboard first; in case the driver does not respond, the steering wheel vibrates to warn. • Another project that we developed in the area of driver assisting technologies is Trailer Parking System. With the project title “Trust Vehicle” and funded as part of Horizon 2020, we contribute to the reduction of accidents during the process of vehicle parking. ACCESSIBILITY We put efforts to design our vehicles to be accessible for disabled people. We offer special vehicles that are suitable for the use of hospitals, nursing homes and special schools and we also design accessible vehicle for public transportation. We offer school services and buses to the service of customers after completing accessibility studies on them.
