44 ELECTRIC FORD TRANSIT In line with our goal to expand our product range with zero-emission vehicles, we continue our studies to develop fully electric models of Ford Transit along with its hybrid version. The vehicle will be able to travel 200 km with one completely charged battery. ELECTRIC BATTERY PRODUCTION Batteries constitute one of the most important issues for us in terms of developing and popularising electric and hybrid vehicles. So, Ford Otosan will produce the electric batteries to be used in commercial vehicles, as the first factory among all Ford factories in Europe. ELECTRIC GARBAGE TRUCK We continue our activities to develop electric vehicles and their components in the heavy-duty vehicle segment as well. As part of “E-Truck” project, we completed the first prototype of an electric garbage truck. We started to test our electric garbage truck which is the first one produced in Turkey. We plan to complete customer tests as well by the end of 2019. COMPRESSEDNATURAL GAS (CNG) TRUCK We develop new vehicles by focusing on alternative fuels in order to reduce carbon footprint in transportation sector. Our compressed natural gas (CNG) truck project is among our important initiatives in this field. In 2019, we will start to test the first prototype of internal combustion engine running on natural gas which will be used on the truck and vehicle in the heavy-duty segment. AUTONOMOUS TRUCK PLATOONING TECHNOLOGY With the purpose of developing autonomous platooning technology to be used on F-MAX vehicles, we signed an R&D cooperation agreement with Austrian AVL company in 2018 which constitutes a first in the field in Turkey. The technology to be developed as part of this cooperation will be used to enable communication between heavy-duty commercial vehicles involved in intercity transportation and these vehicles will be made to move in platoons consisting of max. four vehicles. With the platooning travel, we will reduce losses due to the wind along with the reduction of fuel consumption and GHG emissions, and we will contribute to driving safety. TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGIES OF THE FUTURE We develop new vehicles by focusing on alternative fuels in order to reduce carbon footprint in transportation sector. In Hannover Fair, we showcased our first concept vehicle, F-Vision, which was designed by Ford Otosan Design Studio with a fully electric engine and autonomous drive feature.
